This room has the same interior design as the Grand Business room but is much larger and instead of a 160cm bed you can get two single beds in this room. The single beds are very comfortable as well.

Grand De Luxe Room

This hotel room is for you that wants a little bit more then just a nice hotel room. These rooms have their own balcony with a nice view of the city. The rooms are also fairly large. The beds are also of a different brand then the ones that you can find in the Grand Business and Grand Superior rooms. I told that the beds in the Grand De Luxe rooms are Swedish handmade high quality beds  I however forgot to test them out when I was there but I can imagine they are very comfortable.

Grand Suite

This room has a totally different interior design compared to all other rooms at the Grand Hotel Opera Gothenburg. This interior speaks modern Swedish design and luxury. In the beautiful bathroom you have a big jacuzzi with a funny and very wide window that offers a great view. Even though you have the window it’s still very private like a bathroom should be.

The Old Suite

The rest of the rooms at the Grand Hotel Opera Gothenburg are located in a seperate part of the hotel and have a more traditional “Grand Hotel” interior however they are slowly being modernized. We have seen all the old rooms and we do not recommend them except the suite which is very nice. For a tiny bit more you can have one of the above rooms which are modern and very comfortable.

In 2005 the Liseberg amusement park in Gothenburg was voted one of the top 10 best amusement parks in the world by the Forbes Magazine. The park attracts a bit over 3 million people annually. The park is open during the Swedish summer and also two months during the Swedish winter. When the park is open in winter the entire park has a special Swedish theme and is full different types of winter animals like Swedish reindeer’s.

The Liseberg has about 40 different rides for you to try and there are rides that are suitable for all ages. They add new rides for every new summer season. One of their most famous rides is the wooden roller coaster Balder which has been voted the worlds best wooden roller coaster twice (in 2003 and 2005).

The Liseberg theme park is also frequently visited my big singers and other famous performers. Some of the big names that have performed at the big stage at Liseberg are Bob Marley, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and many others.

There is a sea of restaurants within the Liseberg amusement park with food from around the world. Doesn’t matter if you are craving Chinese, Italian, Turkish, Traditional Swedish and even German food you will find all inside Liseberg.

The park even offers a real German Tyrol which has a big selection of foreign beers and typical Tyrolean food. Entrance to the Liseberg amusement park is 80 SEK per adult and children below 7 years of age can enter the park free of charge. A pass which gives you unlimited rides during a full day is 295 SEK. You can buy ride tickets and a ride ticket is 20 SEK. A ride costs between 1 – 3 tickets.

From within Gothenburg city you can transport yourself to Liseberg within just a few minutes no matter what transportation system you may use. Liseberg is fully owned by the Gothenburg city.

I think it is safe to say that you won’t have any problems finding flights Gothenburg even if you are on another continent as you have big airlines with direct flights between Gothenburg and big European flight hubs.

If you are on a budget you should have a look at RyanAir which sometimes offers flights to Gothenburg from as little as 1 EUR. Lufthansa and Scandinavian Airlines have also lowered their prices significantly to compete for the passengers. The two later airlines offers much much better service all around for their passengers.

You can rent car from as low as 700 SEK to 1000 SEK per day at these Gothenburg car hire companies. You can also choose to drop off the car at the airport or in the city centre with all the previously listed companies. A few of these companies will even pick up your car for you once you are done with it.

Stena Line Carisma – Express  is one of four ferry’s going in between Gothenburg and Fredrikshavn. Stena Line Carisma – Express is a high speed ferry and is the fastest of the four ferrys. It only takes 2 hours to get to Fredrikshavn from Gothenburg or vice verse with Stena Line Carisma – Express instead of 3 hours and 15 minutes like with the other 3 ferry’s on the same route. A return ticket on the route Gothenburg – Fredrikshavn is usally about 150 SEK / per person but the prices vary depending on season.

You can easily and cheap take your car with you on the ferry’s which a lot of people do too.

If you want to travel in between Gothenburg – Kiel or vice versa you are looking at a travel time of about 13 hours and 30 min onboard Stena Germanica or Stena Scandinavia. Both these ferry’s are modern and offers a sea of things for you to keep yourself occupied with while you are getting closer to your destination. On board the Stena Line ferry’s that do the route Gothenburg – Kiel you will have your own cabin due to the long travel time.

A return ticket for the route Kiel, Germany – Gothenburg, Sweden is priced from 950 SEK / per person and upon depending on what kind of cabin you want. Like on the Denmark – Sweden ferry’s you can bring your car on these ferry’s as well for a just a couple of hundred Swedish krones.

There are three suites at the Elite Plaza Hotel Gothenburg. The suites are between 80 – 200 sqm in size and they are called The Svea Suite, The Maharajah Suite and The 506 Suite. The Svea suite is the biggest of the three suites and it has three big bedrooms, living room and all rooms have a old classic Swedish interior.

The two other suites are 80 sqm each and both offers a great view over Gothenburg city. The 506 suite has a modern interior and the Maharajah suite has an old classic interior with ceiling paintings by the artists Jonhondel & Richter. The ceiling has been classed as a cultural heritage. The service at the Jungfruplatsens Pizzeria & Kebab isn’t the best but the good food makes up for it. The Jungfruplatsens Pizzeria & kebab is situated in the corner of a tiny square called Jungfruplatsen. In the summertime they have a nice outdoor sitting area. The interior is a lot better then most other Pizzerias in Sweden.

Their menu consists of a large selection of Pizzas, some salads and a couple of doner kebab dishes. A pizza at Jungfruplatsens Pizzeria & Kebab ranges between 65 SEK – 95 SEK however we recommend you try a kebabtallrik which the Jungfruplatsens Pizzeria & Kebab is quite famous for doing really well. A kebabtallrik is a plate that consists of french fries covered in doner kebab meat and a type of yoghurt sauce. A kebabtallrik at Jungfruplatsens Pizzeria is currently priced at 80 SEK.
